Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day is being devalued by the relentless media tripe spewed out from what they have been fed by the government/military establishment and the utter ignorance and confusion in the public at large.

WWI was the last of the European wars fought between royal houses and self-made thugs that had been the plague of ordinary people of that continent for centuries. As with all previous conflicts it was needless, inasmuch as it was caused by vanity, greed, trade and the many other faults in character that persist in our self proclaimed leaders today.

WWII on the other hand was a fight against pure evil on the part of the Nazis and the opportunism of Italy and Japan who both failed to predict the response to their actions. On the grounds that these powers would have changed the world into a number of totalitarian spheres of power the fight was truly one of good against evil, although do not get me wrong, the good guys were equally capable of atrocities.

After WWII and the rise of America as an empire to fill the vacuum of the dead British Empire and the threat from communist Russia, wars became mostly based on America’s foreign policy. The big ones in Korea, Vietnam were to prevent the expansion of communism into areas of interest of America. Many of the wars in Africa, Indonesia, Philippines, south America, central Europe were just the result of American foreign policy destabilizing areas to what they perceived as their best interest. Sometimes this was to gain access to resources, sometimes because it was thought necessary to have a presence in the region, sometimes because they didn’t like the government the people were choosing democratically for themselves.

Who can say that any of these wars were justified or brought any peace or prosperity? Who can say that any of the soldiers embroiled in these political excursions were hero’s? Now all I hear is people repeating the line that was written for Dubya, “if we don’t fight them over there, we will have to fight them over here.” People who obviously don’t think before repeating this cute line, or they would realize it makes no sense. And even supposing it did, would not justify the slaughter “over there” that our citizens are causing.

3000 killed during 911 and the sympathy of the whole world went out to America. A few sick men brushed aside that opportunity to make America a protector of the little guy, a bringer of relief to the down-trodden and to be a shining example to the world. Instead they set out to destroy, slaughter, and plunder resources, set up more of their puppet regimes, kangaroo courts, ignoring any international agreement, protocols and accepted societal norms that didn’t meet with their views.

So no more talk of heros. I know the victors write the history books. I know any evil act can have “spin” put on to make it necessary. The dead have always been the poor saps that believed what they were told and thought they were making things better. The evil men talk the young men die.
