| oct 09 2008 | | "We're not going to win this war" | That was the quote from Brigadier Mark Carleton-Smith. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Brig. Carleton-Smith said a "decisive military victory" is not feasible just days after a leaked diplomatic cable hinted that the British ambassador in Kabul has a similarly dark forecast.
The war in Afghanistan cannot be won militarily, the United Nation's top official in the country said on Monday.
It's impossible to conquer the Afghans … Alexander the Great couldn't do it, the British couldn't do it, we couldn't do it and the Americans won't do it … no one can,” said Igor Grigorevich, 46, former sergeant in the Russian army, now curator of a tiny, seldom-visited museum, on Moscow's outskirts.
This leaves Canada dangling in the wind as Nitelight Harper has said we will be there until 2011.
Now if you read my previous posts you will see that I dismissed this adventure as ridiculous from the get go. The rationale that was put forward as midget politicians cronied up to that madman Dubya has really tainted the judgement and morals of those that gleefully followed that leader.
As Dubya's stain on the pages of history is exposed, everyone associated with the evil man is also smeared because of his view of “you are with us or against us.” And how the other puppets ran to be with him. Somehow hoping to illuminate their own dim status. Ambition and conceit from those that are elected to lead us but corrupt that ideal and instead brings us to this ignoble end.
So all those that served and died or were injured or traumatised did so vainly. Ask the troops that came back from Vietnam, or the Russians that ran from Afghanistan. They found they had been used by the politicians for their own glory and the profit of arms manufacturers.
No you can't conquer the Afghans. What gives anyone the right to think they are justified attempting it? What conceit.
So as the western world self-destructs from the greed of the elite, there will be no option other than to cut the billions spent on occupation and return the troops to their homes and what ever is left of their communities ravaged by deflation, inflation, unemployment, crumbling civil infrastructure.
Brave New World is our inheritance.
